Full Version: Tyra's Season 4 Breakdown
Oxygen Boards > TV Shows > Top Model Obsessed

While I may not be the greatest Tyra Banks fan I try to always be objective. But after watching the season 4 ANTM again I still feel it was OVER DRAMATIC.

A few observations......

  • Tiffany obviously couldn't take it anymore.... remember Tocara when they didn't have her size.
  • Tyra's people just wanted to have a sob story to carry the show, so they brought Tiffany back.
  • Tyra could've done that better, the look on her face each time pissed me off....it was sort of elitist.
  • Anger Management DID TIFFANY WELL!!! CAUSE I would have told Tyra off!!!
  • TYRA likes drama, yet she still wants everyone to think she is this "wonderful person". Which is why she goes to the girls and kinda reinforces what she said to Tiffany....then all of a sudden they were all saying the same thing. "Tiffany stopped believing in herself". "She could've won ANTM, but she gave up." They almost repeated the stuff word for word. (KMT)

I know a few people are gonna side with Tyra and say she did it because she loved that girl......but please....she did it for ratings! Yes the industry is tough but ANTM is not realistic.

Yes, that was an opportunity and every should be grateful for an opportunity but that's not why Tyra yelled. Tiffany didn't say anything wrong. If she did they would have showed it. Tyra wanted to see her breakdown like all the other girls do when they get eliminated. The thing is with all the shows the best thing is to get as much exposure as possible and get your free makeover and portfolio. Then push to make it on your own. But I applaud Tiffany when she said......."I'm tired of crying over things I can't change." She was ELIMINATED! So she should cry on national television.....HELL NO! So I was proud of her.

So much of what you are saying I agree with. I am not a BIG tyra fan. One reason is I take her as "she thinks so knows everything or she always right. I've just noticed this during this last season of her talk show.

I agree with what you say about how Tiffany didn't show her emotions on TV. Everyone thinks differently and act differently. That's what makes up a world of ppl. Tiffany took some nice photos, and I feel the judges were rooting for her, however being a participant of the show probably do take an emotional strain on them I can only imagine. Sometimes its seems tyra forgets her struggles and possibly times where it got hard for her.

I honestly didn't see Tiffany making the faces that Tyra accused her of when she started yelling at her, but maybe she did and I just didn't pick up on it. I thought Tiffany did have a chance to win, but I agree she gave up on herself too easily. Whether it was right or wrong, I can see why Tyra got mad at her.

I found this article and it was extremely interesting as a point of view,

At the end of each episode of ANTM, one would-be model is sent home. When Tiffany, who sported tattoos and got into a bar fight on-camera, shrugged at the news of her elimination, Tyra exploded:

"I have never in my life yelled at a girl like this!" screamed Tyra, her face contorted, her auburn coif swinging. "I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you. How dare you! You go to bed at night, you lay there, you take responsibility for yourself"—conveniently employing her ghetto-fied accent here, Tyra pronounces it yo-self—"because no one will take responsibility for you!"

Losing composure is not usually Tyra's style. In her dual role as mentor and executioner, she buddies up to the girls, sharing secrets about self-presentation and stress management. Then, at each week's judging, she trots out their weaknesses and cuts them loose. So, what was it about Tiffany's attitude that so inflamed her? Was it that, as a fellow black woman, Tyra felt some sort of affection that turned to exasperated rage when her protégé disappointed her? Or was she just upset because she'd been trying to pound the sass out of Tiffany and failed?
I think that was the bottom line. She didn't to conform to Tyra's plan.

I totally agree it was way too over dramatic... But you gotto remember, Tyra is the producer and the woman, while in my opinion is a little way too into herself (if you've ever watched her talk show) does know how to make her show entertaining.... That's why dramatic people that should have been kicked off stayed on too long, and the whole brake down thing was a ratings ploy, IMO.

The WORST thing about TopModel is TYRA BANKS. She was never as great of a model as she seems to believe she was back in her day. She was the black Victoria's Secret boobie-catalog model, big deal. AND UGLY. Still is ugly. Her personality makes her uglier.

This show is just a low rent vehicle to push the Tyra product so she can get jobs again. It's all about her ego. And each scene ends with a close-up of Tyra or Tyra's photos and lingers on Tyra's ug-mug.

And the overdramatic drawn out pauses are a farce. The show is a parody of itself. No wonder it has been ridiculed on SNL and MadTV so often.

It is obnoxious when she 'puts-on' the ghetto-speak "Yeah, giiirrrl, y'know I'm sayin'!" to make her seem relateable or have a sense of humor.

Tiffany rocked by giving her dismissal all the importance of picking up her dry cleaning. "K, bye, don't cry, it's ok..." Was the perfect reaction. Tiffany should just have ignored being called back in front of Tyra to allow Tyra to shred her up and act so unprofessional. THAT showed Tyra's TRUE colors. Evil witch. OBEY ME, PRAISE ME or be shredded. Tiffany should just have looked her up and down then turned and walked out will the witch squealed and yelled after her.
I saw Tiffany on E! saying that it was all a set-up by the producers. Tyra said she loved her and that's why she shredded Tiffany. Tiffany said "Uh-huh, if you love somebody and want to help them, you do not scream at them that way. Especially to a girl with previous anger issues. Tyra was unprofessional and fake."

The formula of this show is so bad. The aim is obviously ONLY for ratings. Not based on what girl actually deserves or earned her ranking. LISA was great and they said she was "OLD??" She was 24. Only 24. She was bright, beautiful, funny, took direction, delivered great shots, was an individual. When they tossed her off, the producers manipulated her into crying by shoving her estranged mother at her when she was about to leave so she would cry for the camera. Lisa said all this on the follow-up show on E!.

Make Me A Supermodel is a MUCH better show. More of real life, not so squealy and obnoxiously high school mentality. THAT is a show with actual HIGH FASHION great photographers, better photo shoots, better go-sees, co-ed house. None of the fake drama and made-for-ratings idiocy.

Top Model is as fake as Tyra Banks. The girls deserve better treatment, surroundings, judges, situations and so much more than Tyra's tirades. Can't they replace her with a more balanced host, professional model and better person? That would draw a better kind of model-wannabe, they could choose better judges would aren't ridiculous charicatures. MAKE ME A SUPERMODEL IS A FAR BETTER SHOW.

Sounds too me like you were at one point someone who tried to get on ANTM and failed miserably or personally knew someone that didn't make it. What you have stated makes you sound very petty and sooo jealous. I don't personally know Tyra, I only watch ANTM but from my point of view this lady has made something out of her life and GIVES BACK. What if anything can you say you have done that is this great? Tearing up other people and insulting them will in no way make you feel better about yourself. You have issues that should be dealt with by a professional. I hope you seek the help you need Step away from the computer and remember the old saying, " If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!" Have a nice day!

To Everyone Else:
My 7 year old daughter and I love to watch ANTM! Our favorite now from season 12 is Celia and Allison. Miss J is all that and the whole bag of chips and Mr J is a hottie! Keep up the good work ANTM gang because we are definitely OBSESSED!!!! Love, Steffany & Khaitlyn

I like ANTM, however, they repeat the shows it seems every other week and because of this, I have noticed that Tyra says one thing and does another. For example, during panel, she will be grading the girl's and suddenly, she will ask what is wrong . . . and when the girl says one of more of the girls are giving her a hard time, it comes back to haunt the girl. Tyra attacks her with it. Another thing, she and her mother giving advice to these girls about themselves and life, neither are qualified to do this. If there are any girls with deep issues, it could cause problems in the future. Not a good thing at all. I am confused when they (during panel) claim they have picked a girls' best photo, then they beat her down about what's wrong with it -- HUH?

In my opine, I think Tyra wants all these girls to be just like her.
