Where did they get this supposed therapist?

I am a RN with a masters and then went back to college and flipped all of it over to an Addiction Therapist. I know a thing or two about Therapy and could only laugh at a panel that consist of a reformed "bad" girl and a comedian oh and let us not forget the "doctor" ... all I could do is laugh!

I couldn't agree more! She gives a bad name to therapy. No multicultural competence at all and since when did saying exactly what the therapists wants to hear equal change? This is almost embarrassing!

she is just as crazy as the girls if not more so

she just wanted to be on TV and she is a HORRIBLE therapist

I totally disagree. I think she is doing a great job. I am in school getting a degree in psychology and I think she has been very professional. She clearly really wants to help these girls. I find her to be very insightful. I am sure there is a lot of interesting footage that never makes it into the show too. I wish we could see some of that!

I was pretty surprised by the panel choices, too. I guess we'll see how it goes as the show goes on.

Although I agree there may be extra footage that could show her being more capable, the footage that is shown is primarily laughable. She may want to be helping these girls, but clearly all she is doing is rewarding those that are putting up a mask.

This of course can happen in actual therapy (you never know when clients are being honest and in the end it is to their own detriment). But she is in a novel position where she can see footage of them on a daily basis!

It is obvious that some of these girls are flat out lying. I just hope that this kind of outcome does not dissuade people who need services from going to "real" therapy.

I am a compulsive hair plucker/picker... It's a form of OCD and I've found out that it is genetic and can be helped with medication and certain types of therepy... A few years back I called a local LA radio show for "advice" from their guest therapist who I'm almost positive was this "Dr. Jen." She insisted that I was "self-mutilating myself because I didn't want to be happy and that I should just get rid of my boyfriend..." I didn't have a boyfriend and this was a completely insane diagnosis! Dr. Jen couldn't help a blind man cross the street!

I disagree with these negative posts. You are all entitled to your opinions but I find Dr. Jenn to be thoughtful, honest and helpful although I wonder if any can help these ladies. They are really screwed up but if anyone can do it, I believe Dr. Jenn can.

Hmmm, why such confidence? This "Dr. Jen" character certainly hasn't proven it in this show. Has she been effective in other arenas that you know of? I would really love to believe that reality tv is just portraying her to be so inept, especially regarding diversity. I don't think she is that bad, but she could be better from what I've seen smile.gif

I have to agree with others that I was disappointed in Dr. Jenn.

The point of therapy and counseling is to sometimes point out patterns and mistakes people make in their lives, and how their actions and thoughts do them harm.

I could have done a better job pointing out things to these girls and helping them to see how their wicked behavior hurts themselves and damages their lives.

For example : Rena should have been pushed more. Her cold detachment and secret son should have been pointed out, and the judges should have confronted her about basically hurting Vanessa so badly she wanted to go home.
Sarah C. should have gotten much more feedback from Dr. Jenn--the sugar daddy, eating disorder, and lying issues were brought to light, but Dr. Jenn didn't provide any real insight into those things or help any of the girls understand how to change.
