[indent]Remember when Danielle, now known as Danni, was offered to have that ugly gap fixed between her two front teeth? She outright refused to have it done. (It sure was obvious that her poor, sick Mom in Arkansas could not afford to pay for her daughter to go a dentist regularly, so Danni just got used to people, probably the other kids at school, etc., teasing her, so she accepted it as a part of her and said she did not want to fix her mouth. (She was probably scared of the dental chair as a lot of people are, but who knows? ) They finally kept at her until she fixed the gap, but she still left part of the gap there to just show them she knew more than they did. Why did the judges not kick her off the show like Jay Manuel did to the girl in an earlier episode that flat refused to have her hair cut just one more inch or so because the hair makeover she had was suppose to be the same style as Mia Farrow had in Rosemary's Baby. She disobeyed Tyra's order for her hair to be cut properly before the next photo shoot. When Jay told her to go over to the stylist to have her hair redone per Tyra's wishes, she said she was not going to have her hair cut any shorter and when she dug in her heels, Jay dismissed her off his set and she went home Immediately and never even got to the next judging to talk with Tyra. Now, folks, is an inch of hair that can grow back, any worse than a tooth gap that looks like someone could eat corn through a fence? Go sees would hire a model with hair an inch longer or shorter depending on how good they were at being a model, but a model would not get very far looking like a Jack-O-Lantern and sounding like a backwoods hick. When Danni came back with a gap half done, why was she kept on and allowed to win the competition? UNFAIR TO THE LITTLE GIRL THAT WANTED TO KEEP AN INCH OF HAIR! CONTRADICTION IN JUDGING AND DISQUALIFICATIONS! There was only one model that had a gap in the teeth that was well known and that was years ago when the world overlooked a flaw and was less superficial in ideas and more conservative in dressing in fashions and she was Lauren Hutton. (Yes, Janice Dickinson, there was another supermodel around before you! ) : ) LOL It was easy to overlook the gap in Miss Hutton, she was beautiful and spoke with a warm sultry voice that still gets her commercials today. She still can walk a runway better than most younger models around today and her personality is sweet and personable, much like Tyra's is.
What is your view point on this? I believe that they need to allow the other girl another chance at a new competition since there was inequality in the way they handled her and then letting Danni stay on and even win! Danni already spoke like she was an extra for the Hee Haw show or Beverly Hillbillies with pebbles in her mouth and with the gap in her teeth, it made her speech even worse. At least she took their advice and has had some speech therapy and dialect coaching. I am a Southerner and a Texan whose lived here all my life and I have tried to get a handle on my "Texas draw" by making a conscious effort to sound more intelligent because I had to be a dispatcher and have had to do customer service by phone as well and it was better to speak properly where I could be understood over a mobile radio and on the telephone speaking to others from all over the US. I also have been a professional singer and have done public speaking and I wanted to be understood and not made a laughing stock. It isn't that I am not proud to be a Texan, in fact I am so proud that I wish other people to think that the people from my part of the country and from my beautiful city of Dallas, are educated and are not a bunch of hicks like the TV series of Dallas made us all sound like, If I cared so much to speak intelligently, and as many of my fellow native Texans and Southerners do, that only do everyday work, how much more does a person must care enough to be their best who are representing major corporations who are being paid thousands of dollars for doing so? Sometime Tyra just seems to put way too much investments in some people who really don't appreciate it and it is not right, but when she and the judges are not equal in treatment of everyone, well, then they get what they pay for. FOOLS AND THEIR MONEY ARE SOON PARTED.
Anyway, thanks for letting get this off my chest, everyone! It has bothered me since they gave the prizes away to Dannielle, oops, Danni :) P.S. I am not saying that Danni is not good on the runway, she is alright as anyone else just starting out and not everyone from her Arkansas speaks like she does, but she needed help and she also may have had an impairment that coupled with the dialect made her sound worse than she normally would have, but the issue is not there, but in the gap in her teeth. This is where the equality lies and the judges need to be more fairer and no one should dismiss someone without Tyra getting to speak with her first. I like Jay Manuel, but he missed it this time.
