Full Version: I HATE that these guys get eliminated!
Oxygen Boards > TV Shows > Dance Your Ass Off

I think this is a wonderful show you know? Encouraging people to get healthy and to have fun doing it. But it really pisses me off that they eliminate these people instead of encouraging them to go as far as they can go. Instead of helping them get in the habit of getting healthy they boot them off because they couldn't dance well that week or because they couldn't lose as much weight as everyone else. Winning money is a competition. Losing weight shouldn't be. I hope that next season they change the way this show is held, and keep them there from week to week with weekly prizes and/or calculating total scores and having a winner. Eliminating people seems pointless and totally voids the purpose of the show to me! You can tell that these people really want to lose the weight. And I think that they would all be happy losing the weight regardless of whether they win the money or not. Does this bug anyone else?

I love this show and I absolutely agree. When it comes to weight loss shows they should not eliminate people they should just keep them all through to the end and the one who has the best score over all in the end wins and those who haven't will have at least lost a good amount of weight and got healthier. I really hope they change it next season.

I agree, Brandon was just getting groove on and why two people knocked off in one week. We know he needed it for his health and confidence......they just want to lose the weight and get healthy. Make it fun......this was just sad.

I agree with the opinion of this thread. Bringing people on who apparently have issues with diabetes and other health issues... getting them started, and then doing this big mindf&#k and sending them home without the resources provided to them is horrible. Dr. H said that Brandon had fatty liver and if I'm not mistaken either at risk for diabetes or is actually diabetic. Sending him home because of his damn dance score -- home where he doesn't have the resources he had at the show -- just sends him right back into danger zone.

I enjoy the dancing, but it's awful that you start to care about the people. You see that it's more than money for them. It's more than winning. It's getting something back that they once had -- or in some cases, never had in life to begin with!

I, too am annoyed that they get eliminated. When they first advertised the show, I was certain that they would make it a cumulative scoring system and choose a winner at the end. I was so put off when I realized that it was not going to be that way.

Here you have good people trying to do good things for themselves, but they get kicked off one by one. Meanwhile, Bad Girls Club puts a bunch of back biting shrews looking for their 15 minutes of fame in a nice home for the duration. It just goes to show the attitude of TV producers in general and reality TV producers in particular. Lame.

i hate that they get eliminated i agree with u guys completley because taking them off the show wont help some will probally go back to there regular eating habit

I agree! I wish they could all stay until the end and then they could announce a winner at the end. This is a great opportunity for these people and they are all really trying.

I SO totally agree with you. I also feel that, because this an "Oprah" channel and sponsored event, that she is fatally prejudicial in what she wants to promote in this game and that it is totally "rigged". Miles only did what his choreographer asked him to do and well at it, I may add. I think Oprah has a preconceived winner and will do nothing to ensure that what she wants to display happens. I think he was totally blindsided and was destined to go home because she has a different agenda. If things don't turn out fairly this year, I think the United States should take a good look at her motives and intents and reconsider how important she should be in the molding of our children's minds and our own minds.

I simply do not see how Miles did any worse than Mara or Trice ... they barely moved! I thought the point was to burn off pounds by dancing!!!!! Pissed me off to see Miles kicked off --- sick sick sick of the favortism on this show. EITHER DO THE SHOW FAIRLY OR DON'T AIR IT! Shayla does shine and props to Ruben on the weight loss. Clearly if you are gonna be a guy on this show you better have some dance in your background --- it's twice as hard for the guys to shine. I loathe that first judge.. if she says, "you were great so I'm gonna give you a six", one more time I'm gonna puke. UGH
Anna J.
Look, I don't think the judges have been particularly fair in the judging and they have their favorites BUT I have no problem with sending people home. So what if they need to lose the weight for their health and, at home, don't have the resources they do on the show? NONE of us have the resources at home that they have on the show but, guess what, some of us still manage to eat healthier, exercise more and lose some weight!!

I'm not saying that I've reached my goal but I'm working towards my goal and not hiding behind the excuse that I don't have all the resources people on the show have. If someone is bounced off the show, they can take what they learned and keep using it.

I can't believe Miles was eliminated a week before he could really shine doing his favorite type of dance: Swing!!!

What are you talking about ? You went into a whole nutty conspiracy theory. I bet Oprah have more important things to worry about than who wins on a reality show.
MSG
The conspiracy theories printed here are just nutty. Judging is always subjective, when considering effort, as well as what they see as real dance precision and results. All the harder when weight gets in the way.

This week the results fell on the good and bad efforts of the partners' choreography: Mr. Lucky who had never tapped was coaching Pinky, Alicia didn't have enough Jive's actual dance moves, while Mara and Trice benefitted from extremely well developed dances. Mara can be very precise in her movement despite her weight.

I do wish we had some way of seeing the performers efforts through to their goal. We embrace them as they work to achieve our same goals. Putting themselves out there to perform confidently, despte all.

I posted elsewhere that I wish a reunion were in the works, if they can't stay, with some support or check-in in their hometowns. Seeing them at their goal weights, with their incentive of having to perform or interview again.

pong
I hate to see them leave, too. Hopefully they will do a reunion show. I'd like to know if they stick to the healthy way they've learned.
I agree it's not right that the dancers are penalized for bad choreography or something they have no controll over. They should only be judged for how they dance to what was given to them.

Also, I agree it seems a bit strange the way the first judge says she really liked a dancer's performance, then gives them 6 or 5.

I COMPLETELY agree with this post! I've never watched 'The Biggest Loser' for this reason. I mean what's the purpose of them going there to lose weight and getting kicked off in week one and two of the show?!? I mean, if you're 150 lbs overweight, then what difference would 5 lbs make...when you're just getting sent back home to your same ol' lifestyle? I like the show, but that element of the show stinks sad.gif

I would like to see a reunion show to see if they maintained their new lifestyles, especially the people that were kicked off in earlier weeks of the show.

At least on this show they're weight loss percentage and skills determine who stays or goes. I love The Biggest Loser - but getting eliminated there is based on friendships and who's the biggest threat. This makes far more sense to me. And if no one ever got eliminated, how would there be a winner?

I STRONGLY AGREE.. I BELIEVE IF THEY REALLY WANT TO HELP THESE PEOPLE THEY SHOULD KEEP HEM ON AND WHOEVER THE BEST DANCER IS SHOULD GET THE MONEY! EVERYONES BODY REACTS DIFFERENTLY TO EXCERSISE I MYSELF BUILD MUSCLE VERY FAST THEREFORE I GAIN WEIGHT...IF THATS A PROBLEM FOR THEM AS WELL THEN WHY ARE THEY GETTING KICKED OFF? IF THERE BODY FAT PERCENTAGE IS GOING DOWN THEN THATS ALL THAT SHOULD MATTER!
