Full Version: Rhonda Orr

I liked the episode overall. It was kinda awkward to watch Rhonda there at the end act like she's become a prison minister or something. I can't believe that a jury from Texas of all places would let a woman like that go for parole in 2015.

Thoughts?

Imagine being burned alive and not being able to run away. This does seems like a light sentence from a Texas jury.

They ought to put her in a wheelchair and put her in a burning building and won't let her out.

Have you ever thought that maybe the women on this show are not guilty? Just a thought. And I believe that Rhonda is innocent. And for your information she could have gotten 88 years or life...well if you think about it 88 years is basically life.

You werent at the trial, beleive me she was guilty-buy a copy fo the trial transcript and you will see -snapped doesnt show anything that is real-its all for show and suspense

Remember that "SNAPPED" is only approximately 40 min long (subtracting commercials.) The events & the trial are all summarized. It does appear that the summary is based on the verdict of the trial.
Several of the women that have been profiled have been written about. Is there an author interested in Rhonda Orr's story?

i knew to this board, Im normally on the bad girls board, to much drama sometimes, so maybe you cue me in on this case?
Buddy
ladycrazy13......Rhonda Orr was accused & convicted of the death of her husband, James. He was disabled, related to a childhood accident & needed a w/c to get around. The pair met on-line & eventually met face to face & went on from there.
Jimmy's Mom & StepDad were very much a part of the couple's lives...giving them a down payment on a new home built to accomodate Jimmy's physical needs (had a pool in the back yard!!!) & also paid for Rhonda's & Jimmy's schooling. Perhaps too involved but the couple accepted their generosity.
The pair had nothing in common, except maybe the love they shared for Rhonda's kid. It wasn't long before they started dating other people, but Rhonda said they remained living in the same house as friends. It was Jimmy's friends that said they no longer shared the same bed.
What a surprise when Jimmy's bedroom caught fire one night. Rhonda said he was drunk when he announced he was going to bed. He died in the fire.
Anything I know is from SNAPPED. The episode says that Jimmy had no alcohol in his system, his Momma said he wasn't a drinker, there were 2 fires in his bedroom that blocked his door & window. There were several insurance policies taken out on him that Rhonda filed to collect on while "he was still smoldering." It came out in trial that his signature was a forgery on a policy/policies. She was also pregnant by another guy, but terminated it after the fire.
She went on to finish her schooling & became an RN. She remarried before the case came to trial.

Oh, and James's mother paid for her nursing education. If that ain't a kick in the teeth!

And yeah, she did get off pretty light for Texas. I live in Texas and our justice system rarely spares anyone! Especially those accused of such heinous crimes. She got off pretty easy indeed.

Yeah no kidding. Like she was doing good in prison. She should remember why she is there in the first place.....and quit eating.

She just lost her appeal today. The court of appeals upheld the conviction. So she can now be a little beacon of light in prison for a very very long time. We'll see how cheerful she is now
Buddy
Thank you kindly for the update Subway.
